Mulled Port

Can you picture it now? You, sitting in your favorite leather chair, reading your favorite book, sitting by the fireplace on a cold winter night. Your butler Jeeves prepares you a smooth, mulled port, freshly made with Florida’s finest citrus. All of this is possible- well, maybe not all. Maybe just the delicious mulled port. We can dream, can’t we? And even better than a butler preparing your drink, our farmers are hand-selecting the very best products to make it from their farm to your table. Quality fruit, every time. Here’s a quick step-by-step on how to make this delicious mulled port.

ingredients

4 SweeterSorts tangerines
2 cups of water
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
10-12 whole cloves
1/2 tsp. grated nutmeg
750 ml ruby port
1 cinnamon stick (optional)

instructions

1.Slice two of the tangerines open and squeeze the juice into a large nonreactive saucepan. Add the water, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and cloves. Peel the other 2 tangerines and add the segments to the saucepan as well.

2.Set over medium-high heat, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar. Allow it to reach to a boil, then turn it down to medium heat. Simmer for 10 minutes.

3.Add the port and heat the mixture but don’t let it boil. Sieve the mixture into a bowl with a spout.

Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
