How to segment a Florida grapefruit:

6 Easy Steps

Segmenting a grapefruit might be a bit messy, but it sure is worth it! Here are 6 easy steps on how to remove the skin and perfectly slice this tasty fruit!

1. Wash your grapefruit thoroughly.

You’ll want to remove any dirt that may be on the outer skin.

2. Cut the top and bottom of the grapefruit so that the flesh is exposed on either side.

Taking off the top and bottom parts of the skin will help the next few steps become easier. Trust us.

3. Remove the skin around the grapefruit.

Try cutting in smaller chunks to remove the skin evenly. Be careful not to cut too far into the grapefruit- you wouldn’t want to lose any valuable fruit!

4. Celebrate, because you’re halfway there!

Woohoo!

5. Carefully separate the grapefruit segments with a knife.

The end is near, folks! For this next step, you’ll want to take your knife and gently run it along the natural lines and edges of the grapefruit sections. The trick to slicing a grapefruit is that you don’t need to run your knife too hard, the grapefruit will have natural breaks where you will guide your knife through. Gently pull those juicy slices out.

Enjoy!

Some people like sprinkling sugar or salt on their grapefruit. But if you ask us, the best way to eat a Florida Grapefruit is plain (the natural flavor of the fruit is anything but)! With a true Florida grapefruit, there is really no reason to add a thing- they are naturally sweet, and good for you too! Enjoy all the benefits of a pure grapefruit- your body will thank you.
